Later this month, Maine will launch a two-year demonstration project of a statewide electronic health record network designed to improve health care quality, lower costs and help detect and track infectious disease outbreaks, the Bangor Daily News reports. HealthInfoNet will connect 15 hospitals, three health clinics and the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Devore Culver, HealthInfoNet's executive director, said only Delaware has launched a similar statewide health information network. He added that Delaware's system is limited to only laboratory data. www.ihealthbeat.org |
